Love it or not, the earthy, smoky, spicy, musky scent of patchouli is one of the most valuable raw materials of the perfume trade because of its lasting, alluring qualities.  This plant originates in India and at one time its scent was an earmark of quality goods. Younger generations today are not even familiar with it. I enjoy introducing them to the scent when they stop by at the markets. They have no judgements about what “hippies” of the ’60’s were doing. Most  smell the soap, stop and think about it, and then say…. “wow!”.

Years of observation has taught me that this scent works deep in the psyche and science traces its effects to a hormonal level. This is how it  becomes associated with love and romance, which we all need more of. Beyond aphrodisia, patchouli oil happens to be good for your skin and is a purported remedy for eczema.  You may notice color variations due to the natural plant dye used, but we do try for a deep purple shade because I associate the scent with ancient royalty.

Saponified olive, coconut & castor oils, fresh goat milk, anklet root, and pure patchouli essential oil.

No synthetic dyes, fragrances, preservatives or filler ingredients. Palm Oil-Free. Handmade on our Wisconsin farm.
